Romo Leads Cowboys’ Comeback

My how a few days change one’s perspective. Tony Romo rescued the Dallas Cowboys today in San Francisco, a week after blowing a 4th quarter lead in the Meadowlands. He went from the goat of Week 1 to the hero of Week 2.

Romo led a furious 4th quarter rally to help the Cowboys escape Candlestick Park with a W. The Cowboys trailed 24-14 with 7 minutes left. Things looked bleak:  Romo was hurt and had spent much of the 3rd quarter in the locker-room, hampered by a fractured rib.

He looked sharp upon his return, however. His favorite targets helped him out too. Jason Witten catches moved the chains. Miles Austin hauled in a great touchdown grab to reduce the 49ers lead to 24-21.

A 48 yard field goal at the buzzer tied things up.

Romo found Jesse Holley for a 77 yard pitch-and-catch on his first overtime pass. Dan Bailey kicked a 19 yard field goal to seal the victory.

Two weeks, two nail-biting games. The ‘Boys sure ain’t boring.

Big road win for Dallas.

They go home next week to host the first place Washington Redskins.
